Two Young Engineers Killed in Kalyani Nagar Accident

In a shocking display of disregard for road safety and human life, a 17-year-old allegedly under the influence of alcohol caused a devastating accident in Kalyani Nagar on Sunday, claiming the lives of two young computer engineers. The teenager, son of a prominent businessman, was behind the wheel of a luxury Porsche sports car when he collided with a two-wheeler ridden by the victims near Landmark Society around 2:30 a.m.

The victims, Anish Dudiya (27) and Ashwini Kosta (25), were returning home from a party when the Porsche, reportedly driven without a number plate and at an excessive speed, struck their motorcycle. The impact was so severe that Ashwini was thrown 15 feet and succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while Anish died shortly after being rushed to a nearby hospital.
The accused, who had recently completed his 12th standard exams, had been celebrating with friends at a restaurant and a pub before getting behind the wheel of the high-performance vehicle. Witnesses described the car as speeding through various areas, including Koregaon Park and North Main Road, before the fatal collision.

The incident has sparked outrage among citizens, who are questioning how a minor was allowed to operate such a powerful vehicle without proper registration or supervision. The car, valued at Rs 5.2 crore, was found without a number plate, raising concerns about the lack of accountability among the affluent.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijayakumar Magar confirmed that a case has been registered against the minor driver for reckless and negligent driving. The police are also investigating the role of the parents in entrusting the vehicle to the minor and the pub where the teenager was allegedly served alcohol.
The accident has highlighted the growing concern of drunken youths driving recklessly in the area, which has witnessed numerous accidents in the past. The police have vowed to take strict action against establishments violating closing times and serving alcohol to minors.
MLA Sunil Tingre intervened in the case, initially attempting to shift the blame to the driver, but eyewitness testimony confirmed the minor’s involvement. The incident has sparked a wider debate about road safety, accountability, and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules.
